We stopped by here before going on a whale watching trip. I wanted got the french toast with eggs and bacon and my boyfriend got a steak and french fries burrito. They were both really good! Prices are reasonable as well. I would definitely would come back.

I am a fan of these types of burger joints, and Yellow Basket is one of the standards I call Slop House Burger Joints. My original score was four stars for this location for there burgers and the remodeled venue. That has recently changed I believe due to the staff. This place has used up all three strikes in my three strike rule. The last few times ive been there it has been a bad experience. Tables dirty and the food was not good( burgers, breakfast, and salads)were not good at all and were extremly over priced. For example the taco salad was $8.50 and it came on a smaller plate and had very little in it but some not very fresh salad and some corn chips! It was pathetic! I thought they were bringing me a appetizer salad. Everything there lately was not fresh and was poorly prepared. Really the worst ive had in a while. I felt ripped off! I will never go back there.

Alright, I know I've been here before. Yes I did. it was breakfast after a workout before work, one of those things that you normally pass by and finally decide to check it out. Before, I had the omelet..I don't remember what kind I had, but I'm sure it didn't wowed me, if not I would have remembered and made sure I'll come back again. So this time, it was for lunch. Before I pulled in, I thought to myself "Hmm, what's the deal with the name Yellow Basket" and which made me went for it. I'm sure that's what caused to do it too on the first time. You can say Yellow Basket is a small mom and pop restaurant or you can also say it's a diner. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu has its varieties and options that runs from omelets, pancakes, french toasts, patty melt, burgers, chili cheese fries, pastrami sandwich, steak, nuggets, fish & chips to burritos and fish tacos. This time, I got the YB Texan Burger with the help of the cashier's reccomendation. It's basically like a Western Bacon Cheeseburger which you can get at Carl's Junior, and you know what. Come to think about it, it is the duplicate of it. It's got the onion rings, bacon, onions and the beef in the burger. Not to bash on it, I've had the Carl's before, I preferred theirs. SO yes, I was disappointed in a way. I expected a smile after my meal, and that frown cost me $4. I may have given more stars if service had been better. They may be understaffed and I would have understand but they weren't busy at all for a lunch hour. Tables with plates around me were still not cleared. It's an eyesore, and you know it.

Interesting place in Santa Ana. Large menu with a variety of food choices - burgers, melts, mexican food, breakfast. I've driven past this place many times but never felt the urge to stop and check it out. If you're the same, stop in at least once to see what's it about. No frills place. You order at the counter, they give you a number and you pick a table. They bring the food to you when it's done. We stopped here for lunch. The wife and I each had a pastrami sandwich. The wife also ordered chili fries. The little one ordered a mini-cheeseburger. I ordered two mini-chicken sandwiches. The food was served hot and was pretty tasty.

They have really good breakfast burritos, just needs a little hot sauce cause it's a little dry. They also have good chesseburgers, they are a little over priced for the quality of food.

This reminds me of the burger joint - FANTASTIC's and FANTASY [same concept just different name]. If you want something quick, in large portions - this is the place to be. It does get a little crowded here around lunchtime, but the quickest way to get your food - order ahead of time & pick it up. I love the fries here because they serve the big, steak fries. The prices are REALLY cheap, the salads are simple yet good. It's very convenient since it's on the corner of two main streets.

Always get consistent food here. I'm a big fan of the pastrami sandwich. Lots of meat with a little mustard and pickles. Bacon cheeseburger is good too.

Yellow Basket... Good lord but the food is really good here. I have eaten here various times and its been really good. Simple American and Mexican dishes. But everything is tasty and every portion is a good healthy size. Looking like just another Burger spot makes people pass this place up. But everyone should stop here and try anything. Chicken salad, Chicken sandwich, French Fries...every...just everything is good...

This is your average burger joint nothing to really rave about. The food is good usually come in for a quick burger and leave satisfied. a-ok!

I am only rating the breakfast burritto here. I often will drive to a place if they have one outstanding food item. Even if the rest of the food is mediocre that one outstanding item will take me there. Ok So I get the Breakfast burritto, eggs, hash browns, xtra cheese and sausage. Get the hot sauce on the side in a separate container. The eggs are fluffy. The hash browns are crispy and not too oily. The cheese is melted just right. Then in the middle there is a succulent taste of pork sausage. Dip it in the red sauce and you have a masterpiece. Trust me the rest of the stuff is ok. Not too bad. But, if you order the breakfast burritto the way I told you. You will never be dissapointed. Best of all its only five dollars. Oh and you are full and satisfied.

Yellow Basket is a great burger joint. They have an extensive menu and the portions are huge. You will come out with a food coma weather you like it or not. I loved the patti melt and the pastrami sandwich. I will definitely spread the word about this place.

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars..that being said, I can only the the food is okay...maybe my palate has evolved, I'm not sure....but I used to eat here regularly about 10 years ago because of convenience, mostly.... and the food was a lot better then, or my recollection of it was anyway. Not sure if owners have changed or what, but the pastrami sandwich is definitely not the same quality and breakfast is just okay----so they have definitely implemented some sort of change (for the worse) and for fast food, its not that cheap.

one of the worst places to eat, i dont think that this place understands that people go to charbroiled places like this to eat and eat alot of good food, i decided to go here and now i wish i had my money back, the food is expensive and they give you very small portions i might as well have went to denny's , the breakfast burrito was probably the worst ever!!!!! i paid about 6 dollars for a snack size piece of crap breakfast burrito, i should have went to del taco across the street. people beware!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry but I can only give this place a three. If you want good food and you are with an undecisive crowd, come here. The food is better than others (but didnt hit that 4 mark), and they definately have everything on the menu. From what I remember, shakes, burritos, sandwiches, burgers, and other fried stuff. If I can give it an extra half I would, but you still have to try this place out.

These guys are amazing... The food has always been consistently good. The owners are great people as well. I have been coming here for around 20 years. Nothing is better than the yellow basket breakfast burrito... just the way Fran makes it!! Check it out... you will be glad you did

Been coming to Yellow for years now, always get the sweet ass breakfast or bacon avocado cheeseburger, onion rings are bomb too. Been getting the steak dinner lately w a baked potato, and delicious garlic bread..LATE

That's it, game over, after 20+ years of loyalty. This place used to be packed on a Sunday morning, but today maybe six other tables occupied. My food came both grossly overcooked and cold - so cold that the cheese was glossy and un-melted, like plastic. I returned my meal to have them re-make it -- 15 mins later, no food. We walked out, no refund. On the way out I told them how disappointed we were, and the counter girl just waved us off with her hand, like it was no big deal -- just dismissed us. Understood. It used to be that service was spotty but food was great -- now both food and service are horrible. What happened to this once proud family business?

My co workers and I came in for lunch a couple weeks ago. I didn't really know what to order so I ended up getting the Jalapeno burger as a safe option. I asked for extra lettuce but that costs more? whack. The burger looked eh but it was decently tasting. I would've rather had In n Out burger though; it costs less and tastes much better.

They would not honor our gift cards that our company gives us for our birthdays so we had to pay out of pocket. On the bright side i would never eat here without them if it wasnt our lunch was almost over we would have gone else where.

I love this place I have been coming here since I was a kid back in the 90s. Great service great food and just over all a good Burger joint but the only two things I would ever change would be the fries & the onion rings they changed something about them and add new tvs other than that great burgers at a great price!
(4)

The food was good but not extremely good that makes me want to come here often. They had the best raspberry tea I have had in days overall all the drinks were good. Service was good. We paid like 8 dollars a person.

Bad service! Wasn't greeted at the door, had to get up for my coffee refill and when I went to the restroom I came back my food and coffee were gone. Check out this picture...all employees were standing around not making sure a mistake was made and my food was taken by mistake

The food was ok. Really simple. The cashier had a bit of an attitude problem. She seemed annoyed when we would ask a question. Didn't like that.

Variety at a restaurant is always a plus; this joint will not only give variety, it also has great service. Even though it's not full service, the food runners and cashier give great service; it would be rude to NOT leave a tip. The service earn three stars. The taste, well, let's just say it's one step away from being bland. The prices are fair, but the taste isn't quite up to the standards for an individual going out his way for the food. The best and simple way to put it--the good was ok, just ok!

I've heard of this place for forever and somehow hadn't tried it. I finally had one of their famous breakfast burrito, which we had to send someone to order, wait for it to be made and then bring back to work, because they don't do phone orders. So sad! Besides that, it was a good decent size, comes with eggs, hashbrowns, and any type of meat. I got no meat. I love hashbrowns in burritos, it all tasted pretty good, but nothing amazing, and nothing stood out.

Food is good, but the older lady who takes your order (forgot her name) is VERY stingy with the ketchup!!!! Geesh! Also, clean your nasty restroom!!! It's disgusting and it smells!!!!! Get a mirror too while your at it!!!!

Not the best burger I had. I ordered the Jalapeño Cheese burger which comes with slices of jalapeño and inion rings inside, lettuce and tomatoes. Service was good. Employees were nice and courteous. I've seen this place pack during the week so I thought, "it's gotta be good!" After today I realized that if its pack during the week because peeps from offices around go there to eat and to have breakfast. I would go back if I'm close, but there are plenty other places with better burgers.

I love coming to Yellow Basket for their zucchini fries! This is the only place where I really enjoy ordering a burger and zucchini fries. They are mostly known for their burgers but they have a variety of other foods as well. They recently upgraded their register so now they take debit cards! Horray!
(4)

I'd rate this as 3 1/2 stars for breakfast. Been here twice. Last time got it to go. Surprisingly, when I got home the food was warm. They did a great job of packing it up carefully. The place is always busy, so business is well. Service is good. Would go again.

The food here is the BEST! I love the breakfast burritos. Try the country fried steak and egg burrito. You will not be disappointed. With the huge portions and great service, this will be my "go-to" place for life.

Pretty good food. Just tired of them taking their sweet time to make the food. "3 separate" occasions. Thought maybe it was the time I went in. But today was the last time. Ordered 2 jr. Burgers, chedder & zucchini fries. Same like always for my co-workers and I. Took 45 minutes just for that. When a family of 5, a guy who ordered a family pack & a group of 4 all ordered and received their food before me. When I asked to get my money back the lady said it'll be out in a moment. Why should I have to pay for this quality of service? I probably could've sat down at a restaurant and got my food quicker. *word of advice if your going here on your lunch break call it in an hour before you leave so you won't wait as long.

The Yellow Basket is a place of contradictions. While local greasy spoons like this one can be renowned for amazing, down-to-earth food, this one doesn't quite reach that level. Moreover, many items are pretty expensive for the type of venue, like upwards of $8-$9. I got the burger and fries, which came out much cheaper at about $4.50. The burger was made fresh to order, and was pretty satisfying. The fries were soggy, greasy, limp and still pretty whitish in color. I'll probably never get back to the Yellow Basket. It's far from where I live and I'd rather eat elsewhere if I could help it. But, it was fun to try such a funky place.

Terrible fucking customer service! You can't take a god damn phone order today even though you did it yesterday!? Screw being on your list, I'm taking my business elsewhere. And to make it worse they're not sympathetic or sorry at all! This place is not worth it for decent burritos. It's Santa Ana you dummies, I will get my burrito order to be picked up somewhere else. Enjoy your limited time staying open. Lost business = no dinero.
(1)

I love the burgers here but the they are to pricy on everything else. The cashier's are terrible they greet you with a frown and get annoyed if you take to long to order and treat you even wose after you order and shove your food at you with a scowl when its ready. if they had better service I probably would patronize this establishment more often. Shame on you Yellow Basket employees!!!
(2)

Oh Yellow Basket-how I have missed thee!! In town for a family reunion we decided to make a visit to the Yellow Basket. Having grown up around them I was delighted to go and even though it was technically still breakfast time I had to order my traditional pastrami. My husband had a burger, which was huge even by his standards. The food was great, service was awesome and I wish there was a Yellow Basket near my house.

I tried this restaurant when I was in Santa Ana for the day and I am so glad I did! I had the Denver omelet. I never make myself breakfast at home, so when I go out to eat breakfast, it is a pleasure to have a hot meal. The omelet was huge and it came with the best hash browns and toast! There was enough food to feed three people, lol! And it was truly delicious! And the staff was friendly and welcoming. If I am in Santa Ana again in the morning, I will definitely stop by for another breakfast, and I will also check out the lunch/dinner stuff if I'm in the area too! I highly recommend this restaurant, five stars!!

My favorite burger joint in the world with great zucchini fries and onion rings - every burger element is perfect from the seasoned meat to the crispy lettuce to the way the cheese melts into the special sauce. It's not fancy, but the best old-school burgers you could want!

I've been to 3 YB's recently and this one is a little bit different. The owners of the other one contend that this is not a legit YB, and I agree. The menu here is really extensive, but the prices are higher. Especially for the area it is in. And the food isn't any better. I recommend avoiding the Mexican food. There is just something not right about their burritos sometimes, and you probably shouldn't risk it. Their burgers are alright, expect once I had a really dry bun.

I've eaten here multiple times, the first being a Saturday night and overhearing an older man complaining that his soup wasn't soup because there was no broth in it,and having trouble with a language barrier he got to the point of yelling LIQUIDO!!! The other times nothing as hilarious has occured but my food has been pretty good and the zucchini fries are a must! They lost a few stars from me based solely on the fact that they don't take over the phone orders to-go

Awesome! Cheap with a wide selection. I really liked that their asada cheese fries were fresh and excellent. Sure the meat wasn't high quality--but I still liked it a lot---and it was fresh. I'm sick of other places I've been to with sad asada cheese fries with almost no veg and that just look like they want to be thrown out. Here it's colorful, full of life and has fresh tomatoes and guac (note they use the watery kind o' guac that doesn't taste too much like avocados). Also, some people might not like that their meat was almost burnt but I cook my steak that way (but medium rare in the middle) and I love it. Gives a nice smokey flavor to everything. This was my first time at a Yellow Basket, btw and I will definitely be returning.

Just a quick update. Freaking amazing Breakfast burrito, it's so good I'm downgrading a previous review of another good breafastier I recently started going to. The eggs aren't the best, but the mix of meats, eggs, cheese and properly cooked hashbrowns does it right. Salsa seems to be a mix of verde and rojo, a hint of heat, but I got salsa in it and 2 on the side because I like it a lot.

I've been coming to Yellow Basket for over 10 years. It's right down the street from my workplace. I love their junior hamburger because its the perfect size and the perfect price. Their zuchinni fries with ranch are great! Perfect item to share with a few people if you get the large size if not they have a small size order too. What I love best from the menu is the breakfast burrito...the sausage breakfast burrito to be exact. It's about $6, but it's huge! Eggs, hashed browns, cheese and sausage...yummy goodness. Don't forget the hot salsa. It's awesome too!

I actually went to Yellow Basket on a whim. The location was conveniently on the corner in an area where I was shopping so in I went. When I went in I noticed that it was a noisy and fun loving kind of place with people talking, laughing and eating. This was my first visit and It took me only a second to figure out that you go to the counter to order your food and the server brings it out when its ready. The staff were all friendly and efficient (A good start to any service). Deciding what to eat was the most difficult thing about this visit but I decided on the breakfast burrito. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions and prices. The food itself was delicious and I can't say enough about it. If you want a place to eat that is not quite a "Fast food place" and not entirely a "Sit down place", then this is the place for you. It is casual dining with reasonable prices and a big menu!

Great food like a home cooked meal. Highly recommend. Took the family there today for early lunch. Got right in and out. One of those places like farmer brothers.

I come here cause the the Del Taco across the street gives me the shits. The female Cashiers always deliver poor customer service. Their a bit pricey for what they give you. I've had their Cheeseburgers & breakfast meals which are decent

It was delicious! Wasn't sure if I had to get up to ask for water but I did. Other than that food was good. Customer service was about 3 out of 5 stars. They were attentive but mind not all there haha.

Since our work office had moved from Irvine to Santa Ana I was able to locate this place that I had driven by many many times. I am glad I found this location and also I read some reviews that bash this place or say it's a bit pricey.. maybe its what you order. I usually try to get there burgers, I get the " Have it your way " burger with egg, bacon and onions rings.. you can never go wrong with that burger. Price is about $6.00 or so but worth it in my opinion..very good. I did try a Tuna melt from there and it felt so rich with buttered bread and cheesy.. it was too much in my opinion but I am sure others would have enjoyed it... either way.. Yellow Basket it a good place to eat..

In the midst of a very busy day yesterday, the wife decided to pick up some lunch to go from the Yellow Basket. We hadn't been here for years, but remembered it as a decent hole-in-the-wall with OK grease-laden food and good zucchini strips. As of this morning, neither the wife nor I can venture too far from the restroom. I'm not claiming food poisoning, but I am asserting definite intestinal discomfort stemming from the one place yesterday where we shared a meal. Maybe we were better equipped to handle this when we were in our 20s. We aren't now.

Just got out of there. Ordered a Chili Size. The burgers were ok, maybe even good. The chili was pretty decent. Though about 40% of the chili was replaced with re-fried beans. Nasty. If this is on purpose you have no idea how to make food. If it was an accident then you are blind.

Well, this place really isn't for take out. A Cobb salad took 20 minutes to prepare. The Italian dressing was tasteless. I won't be back again especially for take out. Probably great for burger and fries.
(2)
Gene M.
If you like hamburgers that taste like they came out the production line of Kingsford charcoal, then this is the place for you. I ate here years ago and thought the food was all that for a hole in the wall. Of course, I was in my 20s at the time. Fast forward some years late. I decided to take my wife there thinking that she would fall in love with the place. WRONG!!!!! I'm lucky she didn't serve me with divorce papers after she was served with the sootiest, burnt piece of whatever that was supposed to resemble meat. . I opted for their fried chicken dinner. The good thing was the skin was crispy. Unfortunately, the meat was too. The only highlight was the toast and I was surprised they didn't screw that up. Overall, an unmemorable meal. Cheap prices, but cheap quality too. If you want to know what the biggest threat to marriage or committed relationships are. It's taking your spouse/partner/lover to dinner at the Yellow Basket in Santa Ana.

Sometimes you just need a good burger. No fancy stuff. Just a regular cheeseburger that you can count on to satisfy your craving. And some fries, perfectly crispy with the right amount of salt. This place has that burger and those fries. Dependable and affordable. Just the way it should be.
(3)
Julie R.
I would love to give Yellow Basket the 3-4 stars it might deserve. However after being a customer here for about 15 years since it is near my work I will no longer be coming here. You see they have decided to not take phone orders any more. Due to time it is easiest for me, as well as others, to phone in our order since they do not have a drive thru. If I can't call my order in to be ready when I get there to pick up, I don't have the kind of time to wait in a long line to order then wait another 15 min for my food. So say goodbye to this customer of 15 years.

I really liked this place. I can't believe i've never been to one before. They're a fantastic little divey diner restaurant. Loving it. Great burgers. I'll say that right off. I smelled them cooking some when I came in and started craving one. Bacon cheeseburger combo for me. I got the fries and thought they were pretty good, thick, but still crispy, not greasy. Awesome and huge amounts of bacon on the burger. and it was a flavorful beef patty. shredded iceberg lettuce and tomato on top with some thousand island and other stuff. Yummmmm. I would definitely be down to come back. They also serve breakfast all day! and their breakfast looks awesome! I am going to have to drag someone here one evening when that breakfast for dinner craving hits. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Refills are free as far as i can tell, just ask.

Got to love the basket. This place is legit for your basic burger/fried food joint. I'm hip to the burger combo ($5.29) with a soda and fries. I like to add a fried egg to my burger and they never charge me extra. Never got my food in a yellow basket, but I won't hold it against them. Gracias cesta amarilla.

I was in the area on business and thought I'd stop in for breakfast. What's not better than a nice hefty diner breakfast? Not in the mood for anything fancy, I decided to keep it simple: Sides of hasbrowns, over-medium fried eggs, and bacon. My hashbrowns were yummy, perfectly crispy outside and soft inside potatoes. The eggs were cooked really good! One thing I learned from watching The Mentalist is you can judge a place by how they cook their eggs. You can't get cooked to order eggs from McDonald's or other quick-serve restaurants, so when I can get them I take advantage of it. My wife introduced me to over-medium fried eggs. Now many times when I order over-medium eggs the yolks are much too firm and the whites are runny (a feat I have yet to unravel the mystery of how that happens). But these yolks were perfectly runny (the best to dredge your hashbrowns and bacon through), and the whites were firm. The bacon was a little crispier than I like, but I figure if I had asked for floppy bacon they would have made it for me. But I didn't think of it at the time so no big deal. The food was prompt and hot and the lady that brought it to me smiled real big. Before I left I ordered a BLT to go for lunch. Although it was a few hours later, it was still good!

I think one star is too much, more like half a star! So today for lunch I decided to go to Yellow Basket, I've been here before, it's close to work, and I'm usually a fan of similar burger joints. No today! I come in it's about 2:30pm there is no one there... except for a guy waiting for his order. I wait about 5 minutes before someone comes up to the register and asks if they could take my order. While looking at the menu I saw that they had Carne Asada Fries (which is odd I've never seen these in OC, its more of a SD or LA thing) (Carne Asada Fries are like carne asada nachos, where fries replace the nachos) anyway the item was highlighted in bold on the wall menu (I don't know if its because its a specialty, or its a new item) but I took it as a sign of what I should have. So I waited about 15 minutes for my order, to go. the guy comes and hands me my order in a paper bag held sideways as the container barley fits in the bag ( keep in mind its raining outside) I was going to say something, but I had waited long enough, and I needed to head back to work. So I open my container to see these under cooked discolored fries no flavor no salt, no seasoning ... big chunks or onions and tomato, they were cut with a butter-knife or something not sharp, a small amount of cheese in the middle. The container bathed in this watery green salsa they try to pass off as guacamole. The meat is also under cooked dry and plain gross! service = bad! wait= bad! food= horrible! Like I said I am usually of fan of these types of burger joints, in the future I'll stick my favorite Fantastic Cafe!

The name is what really got me. Unique, the thought of a yellow basket made me think of crispy golden fries. So I made the u-turn and came back around to get me some lunch... I went in, ordered the burger special and was perplexed at the bill which I believe was under $4. They had a whole list of specials on the board and the burger special was certainly more than I was charged. But as I took a seat, I saw the sign on the window with a price I think of $3.99. Wow, that's cheap. I wanted to wash my hands before I ate so I went to the restroom which was one of those restrooms that stinks so bad you hold your breath. It was a mess, it was dirty, oh man this was gonna get bad. My food comes put and the gal brings it to the table. Nothing impressive, just a burger, fries and drink. Now I watched this burger as they cooked it. The cook literally chiseled my burger patty from a cylinder of stuck together burger patties and threw it on the grill. I watched as he mishandled utensils from raw burger patty to finished product. Well, the burger was nothing special, you could buy patties at the supermarket and do better for yourself. The fries were a mixture of cold stale fries and hot somewhat crispy fries. Listen, this place doesn't really care about quality. If you like it, good for you. But it's not a place that prides itself on good eating. There is nothing here that indicates they really want to give you a good meal. This is a place that will server you a lunch or dinner that will fill your belly and that's it. If not for the horrible bathroom and watching the cook not practicing food safety, I'd give it 3 stars.

The food is fresh and reliable, been coming here for almost 18 years. Everything from breakfast to dinner is good, the interior was remodeled and looks clean and inviting. 4 stars because the food is pricey and definitely not the best in taste in town.

My usual breakfast burrito spot. I stop in once every couple of weeks for their Country Fried Steak breakfast burrito. This is hard to mess up since it is only eggs, hash brown, country fried steak and gravy. They make it right and pretty quickly.

Average local dinner, I use to come here when I was little because my aunt lives right across the street. Now I live there, so I came here once in a while. Their food is good, nothing spectacular or out this world kind a thing. There's always cops eating here, so it's a nice little local spot.

No lunch specials on a Wednesday. Customer service was down the hatch and the gal short changed me. It's my fault for not paying closer attention to my fellow yelpers

I've only been here a couple times and after each time i can say i left satisfied. The burgers that i've ate were not the BEST burgers i've ever had, and definitely not the cheapest! BUT it's work checking out! it's like a little diner where you can sit at the bar thing, or just sit at a table away from everything and have the server come up to you. Like everyone had said, it gets busy in the mornings because they serve breakfast but i've never ate anything off the breakfast menu. worth a try. see if you like it!

Got the pastrami meal for over $10. It tasted fine but you can definitely find a better deal elsewhere. I probably will not be back nor will I recommend to anybody.

Been coming here for 5 plus years. Best thing to get here are their burgers. I usually get their avocado cheeseburger as a combo. Its around $6 give and take. The pattie is big and juicy with just the right amount of onion and cheese. I give their hamburgers a 4 out of 5! Their fries are huge!! love eating em with a side of thousand island. The girls here are really friendly. 2 of them have been working since I started coming here as a freshmen in saddleback. Their breakfast is ok. My favorite thing to get here is their oatmeal with toast and coffee.

Their tuna melts and grilled cheese sandwiches are SO good! I give them a 5 just for those two items. They average out to a 4 because their much hyped breakfast burrito and their soggy fries get a 3. The breakfast burrito lacks flavor in the eggs without salsa and ketchup. Otherwise, the sausage is good. The fries must be eaten within 2min of being cooked or they get totally soggy. I haven't had the burgers here, but based on some reviews, I'm not sure if I want to...hmm...

I cam here specifically for one thing, the chicken fried steak burrito. Its all I know about the place so my review is based on this product. I am a huge CFS lover and a huge breakfast burrito lover. So here we go..... My first impression was the sheer size of the burrito and the low price for how much food I got, YEAH! Now they cooked to order so it took a little bit but I can accept that. Now for a bite. Hmm, nice crispyness to the steak crust, a little salty, eggs are ok.......Half way through I can see what all is in this thing. The steak itself isnt great but just okay. There was way too many hashbrowns and they were mushy, and the gravy was obviously not from scratch. I ate the other half a few hours later and the whole thing just kinda ran together with not much texture. Overall it was bland when you missed a bite of steak. I loved that they make this item there but its "okay" at best.

Customer service is plain awful, awful, awful!! Long story short: Put in my order for dining in the restaurant and a separate order of chili cheese fries to-go. Food came out and I reminded the server that I also put in an order of fries to-go. She assured me that it would be ready by the time I leave. OK...so I ate and talked amongst my friends. 45 minutes later, still no fries, so I went up to the register to ask on its status. The shift supervisor says it'll be ready soon. Went back to my seat, talked some more while we waited. And additional 15 minutes goes by and still no fries. We're ready to leave, so we all go up to the order pick up area and ask the supervisor again. He says, it'll be ready soon. Five minutes goes by and we're standing there watching them run back and forth but not making our order. (You can see the fries batter from the other side of the counter). Supervisor walks by and sees that we're still standing there. This time, instead of reconciling the problem, he glances at us and keeps walking. Fed up, I went up to the next person and ask for a refund, she tells me it's coming and proceeds to reach over to the microwave nearby, pull out the stirofoam chili cheese fries and gives it to me. I request my refund because I had been waiting over an hour. She shoots me a dirty look, walks to the register, returns, drops my change on the counter, turns away with nothing to say. Never again!!!! It's all garlic fries and chili cheese fries at Jody Maroni's from now on!!

We have been here a few times for a burger, but after today's visit, I don't think we will be returning. We ordered at the register with Manuel duenas. My husband pointed to a promo picture of a three taco combo with rice and beans. I ordered a kids meal burger for my son. He specifically asked if we wanted cheese, to which I replied yes, and plain burger, meat and cheese only. After About ten minutes, he comes over and says, "you wanted the combo, right?" because I only charged you for the tacos. Now, had I had made this mistake in my restaurant, I wouldn't have even mentioned it to the guest. I would have served it as ordered. My husband says he will just have the tacos then but can he please have two extra corn tortillas. Manuel said he would have to get up and go to register. Then the tacos were served smothered in a red sauce that was NOT in the picture. My son's hamburger was served without cheese. I had to get up and look for ketchup on another table. We were given only two napkins for four people. The two gals we Called over were polite and helpful, but Manuel is not friendly and has an attitude. What a disaster! They were well staffed and not very busy at noon. The service and experience was appalling.

just tried it out on a whim with my brother. he ordered the california breakfast burrito- steak, eggs, cheese, fries...it was ok, i've had better and the salsa verde that came with the burrito was frozen and tasted completely of water. I ordered the chicken fried steak burrito - chicken fried steak, eggs, hashbrowns, gravy. it was pretty good. satisfied my CFS fix. like some people stated, the prices are a bit high for the food you get, quality & quantity. would i go here again, maybe. my brother said after he finished his burrito, he had a weird feeling in his gut. could it have been from the burrito or cuz it was almost noon and he hadnt dropped off the kids to the pool yet. we'll never know.

A great little hole in the wall joint. They have every food choice under the sun and a lot of their own creations.. Its burgers, breakfast food, american food, and mexican food. I had the smothered buffalo fries and mushroom chicken burger.. Bomb.. Total with a drink was 15 bucks and it served me and my friend and we were stuffed. Great fresh comfort food..for a good price and a friendly staff. Will definitely return :)

Never a dissapointment, I really love love love their zucchini. Its not the huge zucchini strips, its little shoe lace zucchini ! The smaller size gives it the perfect batter to vegetable ratio. The ranch is super thick and I would reccomend getting 2 for the huge amount of zucchini they give to the order. The shakes are yummy and thick, the onion rings are perfectly coated also a good ratio of vegetable to batter. Im not a fan of cheeseburgers but I hear my brother always raving about it

I love this place from the burgers, b fast burritos and omelettes, When I lived across the way I used to come her every Sunday for my hangover cure.... Californian omelette.... now the new thing is the chicken fried steak b fast burritto woot woot... its cheaper than most places but you'll probably spend about 8-12 bucks per person so it cheap to mid price... but definately come check this place out!

Yellow Basket reminds me a lot of the Lucky Greek or Mad Greek restaurants without the Greeks. Yellow basket is your regular short order cook, hamburger kind of place. The decor is old hamburger joint that has not been changed in at least 20 years. The food is good and filling. Come on, whats wrong with a fried foods and hearty breakfasts. Make sure you take your Lipitor before coming here and go work out after since only a few selections on the menu can be termed "healthy". But will it taste good, Oh yeah. The price is decent for what you get, read not the cheapest food around but OK for the quality. The staff is nice and bilingual. While there about 75% of the customers were Mexican. Overall, eat here once in a while to get that burger fix but not too offer you fat ass.

I love this place! its like one of the best burger joint in Orange County. i think YB is famous for their breakfast and usually they packed in the morning hours. I am no so familiar with their breakfast, but i am totally sure that their burgers and zucchini fries are great. not super tasty, but reasonable price and the portion is huge! plus, they have so many items on the board such as many types of chicken sandwich, philly steak, melts, jalapeno burger, mushroom burger, double chill burger, and many more! try Zucchini Fries!

Nothing to get excited about...typical place. Good burgers and fried zucchini. The nachos have processed nacho cheese but I like shredded better. The chorizo and eggs are no bueno. Fries are decent. If you are in a rush and want something cheap....get the burger. The pastrami is just okay...the meat has too much fat.

(2)Trevor T.
(3)Sean G.
They have really good breakfast burritos, just needs a little hot sauce cause it's a little dry. They also have good chesseburgers, they are a little over priced for the quality of food.
(4)Karyn A.
(4)John M.
Always get consistent food here. I'm a big fan of the pastrami sandwich. Lots of meat with a little mustard and pickles. Bacon cheeseburger is good too.
(4)Adrian M.
(5)Francisco C.
This is your average burger joint nothing to really rave about. The food is good usually come in for a quick burger and leave satisfied. a-ok!
(3)Livingstone m.
(5)Andy N.
Yellow Basket is a great burger joint. They have an extensive menu and the portions are huge. You will come out with a food coma weather you like it or not. I loved the patti melt and the pastrami sandwich. I will definitely spread the word about this place.
(4)Jon O.
(2)Vito m.
one of the worst places to eat, i dont think that this place understands that people go to charbroiled places like this to eat and eat alot of good food, i decided to go here and now i wish i had my money back, the food is expensive and they give you very small portions i might as well have went to denny's , the breakfast burrito was probably the worst ever!!!!! i paid about 6 dollars for a snack size piece of crap breakfast burrito, i should have went to del taco across the street. people beware!!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Joe RICE L.
(3)Michael N.
These guys are amazing... The food has always been consistently good. The owners are great people as well. I have been coming here for around 20 years. Nothing is better than the yellow basket breakfast burrito... just the way Fran makes it!! Check it out... you will be glad you did
(5)David A.
Been coming to Yellow for years now, always get the sweet ass breakfast or bacon avocado cheeseburger, onion rings are bomb too. Been getting the steak dinner lately w a baked potato, and delicious garlic bread..LATE
(5)O G.
(1)Mai N.
(3)Francisco A.
They would not honor our gift cards that our company gives us for our birthdays so we had to pay out of pocket. On the bright side i would never eat here without them if it wasnt our lunch was almost over we would have gone else where.
(1)Derick A.
I love this place I have been coming here since I was a kid back in the 90s. Great service great food and just over all a good Burger joint but the only two things I would ever change would be the fries & the onion rings they changed something about them and add new tvs other than that great burgers at a great price!
(4)Stephanie B.
The food was good but not extremely good that makes me want to come here often. They had the best raspberry tea I have had in days overall all the drinks were good. Service was good. We paid like 8 dollars a person.
(3)Gilbert G.
Bad service! Wasn't greeted at the door, had to get up for my coffee refill and when I went to the restroom I came back my food and coffee were gone. Check out this picture...all employees were standing around not making sure a mistake was made and my food was taken by mistake
(1)Lizbeth T.
The food was ok. Really simple. The cashier had a bit of an attitude problem. She seemed annoyed when we would ask a question. Didn't like that.
(2)Jimmy D.
This is a good place for humberg they nice quality burger and it's very clean and they lots of parking space and close to John Wayne airport and south coast plaza.
(3)Johnny V.
Had the Chicken Fried Steak Burrito, and it was very good. It was different and familiar at the same time. Great menu item. First time here and definitely coming back.
(4)Michael-Anthony T.
(3)Ursula G.
(3)Forty And Beauty R.
Food is good, but the older lady who takes your order (forgot her name) is VERY stingy with the ketchup!!!! Geesh! Also, clean your nasty restroom!!! It's disgusting and it smells!!!!! Get a mirror too while your at it!!!!
(3)Rob L.
(3)Jackie D.
I love coming to Yellow Basket for their zucchini fries! This is the only place where I really enjoy ordering a burger and zucchini fries. They are mostly known for their burgers but they have a variety of other foods as well. They recently upgraded their register so now they take debit cards! Horray!
(4)Ryan S.
I'd rate this as 3 1/2 stars for breakfast. Been here twice. Last time got it to go. Surprisingly, when I got home the food was warm. They did a great job of packing it up carefully. The place is always busy, so business is well. Service is good. Would go again.
(3)Cory A.
The food here is the BEST! I love the breakfast burritos. Try the country fried steak and egg burrito. You will not be disappointed. With the huge portions and great service, this will be my "go-to" place for life.
(5)Eric R.
(1)Patrick N.
(2)Giovanni C.
They don't take phone orders that really sucks won't be giving my business to them anytime soon
(1)JonesB B.
(1)Joe T.
(2)Shelley M.
(4)Pimjai S.
Breakfast burrito is good but apparently they don't take phone order. Looks like you have to be on "the list"??
(2)Debbie H.
(5)Jessica A.
My favorite burger joint in the world with great zucchini fries and onion rings - every burger element is perfect from the seasoned meat to the crispy lettuce to the way the cheese melts into the special sauce. It's not fancy, but the best old-school burgers you could want!
(5)Chris P.
Been coming to this place for many many years great food costumer service the best their prices raising and food serving decreasing I think I'm done going there unless things change other than that good place.
(2)Carrie U.
(3)Fro B.
They lost a few stars from me based solely on the fact that they don't take over the phone orders to-go
(3)Tina M.
(5)Walter M.
(4)Thuy P.
(4)Vickie C.
(5)Cory M.
Great food like a home cooked meal. Highly recommend. Took the family there today for early lunch. Got right in and out. One of those places like farmer brothers.
(5)Justin Sane S.
I come here cause the the Del Taco across the street gives me the shits. The female Cashiers always deliver poor customer service. Their a bit pricey for what they give you. I've had their Cheeseburgers & breakfast meals which are decent
(2)Hugo B F.
It was delicious! Wasn't sure if I had to get up to ask for water but I did. Other than that food was good. Customer service was about 3 out of 5 stars. They were attentive but mind not all there haha.
(4)Mike B.

(3)Vanessa R.
My usual breakfast burrito spot. I stop in once every couple of weeks for their Country Fried Steak breakfast burrito. This is hard to mess up since it is only eggs, hash brown, country fried steak and gravy. They make it right and pretty quickly.
(3)Aidreana Q.

(3)Cindy J.

(3)Wendy N.

(5)Bri B.
